Liven Up The Chat

As of January 1st 2024 these stickers are still available. This was fun and the review documentation below shows some of the joy that was put into this. I don't remember the exact genesis of this project, but I do remember being interested in trying to figure out how to make this a reality. I worked on it for about three weeks.

It was the dawn of iMessage getting a massive overhaul in iOS. Stickers and ways to interact with chat seemed like a good opportunity for Xbox. I tinkered around with xCode after being asked to make something pretty simple. When I realized that a sticker is simply an animated image sequence, I got excited because that meant we could do something more quickly.

I rigged and went into Cinema 4D to shade all these assets with a Sketch and Toon shader. The hardest part was the massive amount of compression and iteration needed to get these to be half a megabyte.

These stickers are free and available on iOS. The videos and assets available on this page show how they were made, while other videos and gifs show some of the review materials I created during the course of the project.
